How to put Peacock on a Samsung smart TV

You want to watch Peacock on your Samsung TV. We can make that happen. The process is straightforward, but you need to check a few things first.

Check Your TV Model Year

First, make sure your TV can actually run the app. Peacock only works on Samsung Smart TVs from 2017 or later.​

If you bought your TV before 2017, stop here. You won’t find the app in the store. You need an external device like a Roku, Fire TV Stick, or Chromecast to watch Peacock on that older screen.​​

Install the Peacock App

If your TV is new enough, grab your remote. Let’s get the app installed.

  1. Press the Home button on your remote. This brings up the main menu bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Navigate left to the Apps icon. It looks like four small squares or says “Apps.” Click it.

Now you need to log in. You have two ways to do this.

Method 1: On Your TV

This method is faster.

  1. Open the Peacock app on your TV.
  2. Select Sign In.
  3. The screen shows a 6-digit activation code.
  4. Grab your phone or computer.

  6. Enter the code displayed on your TV.
  7. The app on your TV refreshes instantly. You are now logged in.

Troubleshooting Common Problems

Sometimes technology fails. If the app crashes or won’t load, try these fixes.

Cold Boot Your TV
Turning the TV off and on with the remote usually just puts it to sleep. That doesn’t fix glitches.

  • Hold down the Power button on your remote for about 5 seconds until the TV turns off and back on again.
  • Or, unplug the TV from the wall socket. Wait 30 seconds. Plug it back in.

Update Your TV Software
Old software breaks new apps.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Support.
  3. Select Software Update.
  4. Select Update Now.
    If an update is available, your TV installs it and restarts.​

Check Your Internet
Peacock needs a decent speed to stream without buffering.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select General (or Network on older models).
  3. Select Network Status.
  4. Verify you are connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
    If the connection is weak, move your router closer or use a wired cable.

Reinstall the App
If the app still freezes, delete it and start over.

  1. Go to Apps.
  2. Select Settings (gear icon).
  3. Find Peacock website Peacocktv.com/tv/samsung.
  4. Select Delete.
  5. Restart your TV (use the Cold Boot method above).
  6. Install the app again.

Using External Devices

If your Samsung TV is from 2016 or earlier, you cannot install the app directly. Samsung uses an operating system called Tizen, and older versions do not support the new code Peacock uses.​

Don’t buy a new TV just for one app. Buy a streaming stick instead.

  • Roku Streaming Stick 4K: Plugs into the HDMI port. It has a simple interface.
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick: Good if you use Alexa.
  • Chromecast with Google TV: Great for finding shows across different apps.

Plug the device into the HDMI port, switch your TV input to that port, and install Peacock on that device. It works exactly the same way, and it’s cheaper than a new television.​

Once you have your login, go back to your TV and sign in.
